The Institute for the Bio-Cultural Study of Religion
The Institute for the Bio-Cultural Study of Religion, or the IBCSR, is a non-profit research center focused on investigating the link between biology, culture, and religion. IBCSR was seeking to open a new office in downtown Boston, and so hired Construction Coordinators, Inc. (CCI) to modify the space to meet their requirements.
The project included the construction of several offices, a conference room, a collaborative work area, a kitchenette, and restrooms. The work of the Institute involves analysis of massive amounts of data, performed by scientists throughout the world. Highly specialized mini supercomputers were installed requiring substantial technology upgrades to the electrical service, dedicated cooling systems and redundant large data connections. Complementing the modern technology, the Institute sought a modern and sleek décor, including beautiful art panels painted with modernist designs. The installation of these panels required precise planning, and CCI took great care to avoid damaging them during transport and installation. Challenges arose during construction because of antiquated building systems that needed to be replaced. Some systems were interconnected with other areas of the building, requiring careful coordination with other tenants. Fortunately, CCI has years of experience working in similar conditions, and the work was conducted in the space without incident.
IBCSR is pursuing intriguing and important research into the nature of the human brain, and CCI is proud to have created a place where the process of scientific inquiry and collaboration is facilitated for the Institute.
